ABOUT

Sarah, a single parent, and her child Barney are caught in a time loop, destined to return to a small Suffolk village where a tragedy occurred; Sarah was drowned as a witch in the village pond.  Every few decades she is forced to return and try and make the villagers see the error of their ways. But Sarah doesn't fit in. The crisis comes to a peak as the village carnival draws close, and Barney is given a creepy, octopus like, World War Two gas mask to wear.

As the story unfolds we witness the destructive power of closed judgemental communities.  Unwilling to conform,  Sarah battles against prejudice, but will she have the power to break the loop?

Inspired by Shirley Day's original award-winning story, and developed as part of her Writer In Residency at The Cut with Artistic Director James Holloway.

A Brief Timeline is  a narrative, poetic, multi-disciplined piece examining intolerance within small communities, and the nature of "difference."

A Brief Timeline uses puppetry, dance, song, and movement to tell a tale of intolerance.
